North of Sydney in the up and coming city of Newcastle, with its recently refurbished harbour and dune system to the north. Next up is Port MacQuarie, a pioneer town, now great for whale watching and surfing, surrounded by lush rainforest. Keep going to Coffs Harbour, home to the Bongil Bongil National Park - one of the oldest-growth coastal eucalypt forests, home to koalas.
